After graduating in the UK with an LLB (Hons) in Law and a postgraduate diploma in Legal Practice, Amanda threw caution to the wind and moved to the land of the long white cloud in 2012 to pursue a career in law. After a bit of sightseeing and obligatory wine tasting, Amanda worked for a niche firm specialising in unit title law and weathertight homes litigation whilst completing her conversion papers to practice in New Zealand. Amanda has been involved in numerous multimillion-dollar weathertight proceedings for large bodies corporates, including C-Vu Apartments and St Pauls in Auckland and has provided advice for large scale remediations and contract negotiations.

Amanda’s interest in construction is shared with her savvy tradie husband, who together embarked on renovating a character villa. The stress of that did not dampen her interest in construction (not even the burst pipes or hole in the roof!) and they moved on to a bigger project of designing and building their next home (hooray for double-glazing!). Amanda knows all too well the trials and tribulations involved in construction and understands that the more you know at the start, the better prepared you are for what lies ahead. When Amanda is not on the hunt for her next DIY project, she can be found spending time with her young family, creating complicated baked goods and being an active committee member for both the Auckland District Law Society’s Newly Suited Committee and local athletics club.
